When renting a car in South Africa, we aim to provide a seamless and secure payment experience. Here’s an overview of our payment policies and methods.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following major credit cards:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express

These credit cards offer the flexibility and security needed for both locals and international travelers.

Payment Process

  • Upfront Payment: When you pick up your rental car, payment is required upfront. This payment covers the rental period and any additional options or services you choose at the time of booking.
  • Deposit Hold: In addition to the rental payment, we will place a hold on your credit card. This deposit is held as a precaution for any potential extras or damages that may occur during your rental period. The amount of the deposit varies depending on the type of vehicle rented and the length of the rental period.

The deposit will be released upon the safe return of the vehicle, provided no additional charges are applicable.

Additional Payment Methods

In addition to the major credit cards, we also offer alternative payment methods for your convenience:

  • Debit Cards: We accept debit cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo. The same upfront payment and deposit hold policies apply.
  • Bank Transfers: For those who prefer, we can arrange for payment via bank transfer. This must be completed before the rental period begins, and confirmation of the transfer is required at the time of vehicle pick-up.
  • Online Payment Platforms: We support various online payment platforms such as PayPal and PayFast. These options offer a secure and convenient way to complete your payment.

Important Considerations

  • Currency: All payments are processed in South African Rand (ZAR). If your credit card is issued in another currency, your bank will apply the relevant exchange rate.

When renting a car in South Africa, it is important to be informed about the insurance coverage that comes with your rental, as well as additional options available to enhance your protection.

Basic Insurance Coverage

Every rental includes basic insurance coverage at no extra charge, ensuring that you have essential protection during your rental period. The basic insurance includes:

  • Third-Party Liability: This covers damage to other vehicles and property in the event of an accident that is deemed to be your fault. It provides financial protection against claims from third parties.
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): This reduces your financial responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle resulting from a collision. However, there is a deductible (also known as an excess) that you will be responsible for in the event of damage.

The amount of the deductible varies based on the vehicle category and rental conditions. It is important to review the terms and conditions of the rental agreement to understand the specifics of the deductible.

Optional Extra Insurance

To enhance your coverage and reduce your financial liability, we offer several optional insurance packages:

  • Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW): By opting for SCDW, you can significantly lower your deductible for collision damage. This provides greater peace of mind and reduces your out-of-pocket expenses in the event of an accident.
  • Theft Protection (TP): This insurance covers the loss of the rental vehicle due to theft. Like CDW, it comes with a deductible that you can reduce by opting for additional coverage.
  • Personal Accident Insurance (PAI): This coverage provides financial protection in the event of personal injuries sustained by you or your passengers during the rental period. It covers medical expenses and, in severe cases, provides compensation for disability or death resulting from an accident.
  • Extended Roadside Assistance: For added security, you can opt for extended roadside assistance which covers a range of services including towing, tire changes, and lockout assistance.

Important Considerations

  • Policy Limits: Each insurance type has specific limits and exclusions. It is important to review the rental agreement and insurance policy documents for detailed information.
  • Claims Procedure: In the event of an incident, you must report it to the rental company immediately and follow the prescribed claims procedure. Failure to do so may result in denial of coverage.
  • Local Laws: Insurance requirements and regulations may vary by region within South Africa. Ensure that you are aware of and comply with local laws during your rental period.

How Long Can You Keep the Car?

  • The minimum rental period is 24 hours.
  • If you’re running late returning the car, let us know promptly to avoid extra fees.

Mileage and Fuel

  • Don’t worry about mileage — it’s unlimited.
  • We hand over the car with a full tank and ask you to return it full. If not, we’ll add a refueling charge.

Car Care

  • Please bring back the car in the condition you received it.
  • If there’s damage or something feels off, tell us right away.

What You Can’t Do with the Car

The car shouldn’t be used for towing, subleasing, off-roading, racing, or any illegal activities.

Booking Changes

  • You can cancel or change your booking up to 24 hours before it starts without any fees.
  • Missing the cancellation window or not showing up might lead to a cancellation charge.

Adding More Drivers

  • More drivers can join in, but everyone needs to meet the age and license criteria.
  • There’s a small charge for each extra driver, covering the whole rental period.
